Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has reportedly settled on personal terms with AEK Athens, putting him on the path to join the Greek Super League side this summer. The agreement, confirmed by multiple Greek media outlets, comes as part of ongoing negotiations between AEK and Rangers over the final transfer fee.
Dessers, 30, is expected to earn approximately £30,000 per week, with Rangers seeking a transfer fee in excess of £5 million—a notable profit over the £4.5 million originally paid to Cremonese in 2023.
The forward featured prominently in Rangers' recent campaigns, recording 29 goals in the Premiership and 51 goals across all competitions, but found himself out of favor as manager Russell Martin adjusts the squad for the next season.
AEK Athens are optimistic about concluding the agreement before the end of the transfer window, though a final settlement with Rangers is yet to be reached .
If completed, the deal would position Dessers as one of AEK’s most significant summer signings as they rebuild their attack. For Rangers, the sale would free funds for incoming targets like Matija Frigan and Dor Turgeman, marking a key step in the club's strategic reshuffle.
Dessers's move to Greece appears imminent pending the clubs' agreement on terms. Upon completion, the Nigerian striker is poised to begin a new chapter in Athens next season.
