Samuel Chukwueze, the Super Eagles winger and newly-signed A.C. Milan player, expressed his admiration for former Netherlands international Arjen Robben, choosing him as his idol over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Chukwueze, known for his left-footed right-wing style, found inspiration in Robben's mesmerizing skills, particularly his signature cut-back and bend-it-into-the-top-corner technique, which he watched extensively during his prime at Bayern Munich.
Chukwueze's playing style bears a resemblance to Robben's, both being left-footed wingers who enjoy cutting in, as showcased in Chukwueze's recent goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
In an interview with Milan TV, he openly shared his admiration for Robben, saying, "I love to play on the right wing, it is very important. I watch Arjen Robben because he’s my idol. I watch his YouTube clips a lot because he’s a fantastic player. He cuts in, he crosses the ball, he shoots, he’s so fast, and he can dribble anyone he wants to. He’s a player I just love to watch."
Chukwueze also acknowledged the warm reception from Milan fans, who played a significant role in his decision to join the club.
Their encouraging messages on social media made a positive first impression on him, and he praised the fans as "amazing people" who influenced his move to the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners.
With a five-year deal at Milan, the 24-year-old winger aims to be a dynamic attacking force alongside Rafael Leao for the illustrious Italian giants, ready to showcase his skills and continue to draw inspiration from his idol, Arjen Robben.
