Chicago Bulls Waive Jaden Ivey After Controversial Social Media Remarks

The Chicago Bulls have released guard Jaden Ivey for conduct deemed harmful to the team, following controversial comments he made on social media. The decision came shortly after Ivey posted a series of livestream videos discussing religion and criticizing the NBA’s support of Pride Month.

In his broadcasts, Ivey expressed views opposing LGBTQ celebrations, prompting backlash and raising concerns within the organization. He later questioned the team’s decision publicly, arguing that his comments were being mischaracterized and asking why the franchise did not directly address his stance instead.

Ivey, 24, had only recently joined Chicago after being traded from the Detroit Pistons, but injuries limited his impact. The former fifth overall pick had been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee issue and appeared in just a handful of games for the Bulls. His outspoken behavior reportedly caused discomfort within the team environment, contributing to the decision to part ways.

Chicago head coach Billy Donovan emphasized the importance of professionalism, respect, and accountability within the team, underscoring the standards expected of all players. Ivey, who will now enter free agency, leaves the Bulls after a brief and turbulent stint.
