Chelsea Football Club defender Tosin Adarabioyo has confirmed that he is now considering committing to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, following years of speculation over his international allegiance.
The 27-year-old centre-back, who recently joined Chelsea from Fulham, said in an interview that he has never rejected the opportunity to play for Nigeria and is now ready to make a decision regarding his future on the international stage.
“I’ve never turned down Nigeria, and I’ve never had any conversations where I said I wouldn’t play for them,” Adarabioyo explained. “Now, I think it’s the right time to make a decision.”
Born in England to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo represented England at various youth levels but has yet to earn a senior cap. Despite past reports suggesting he declined Nigeria’s call-ups, the defender clarified that his previous focus was solely on establishing his club career.
With Nigeria gearing up for major international tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, Adarabioyo’s potential inclusion could provide the team with significant reinforcement in defence. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has consistently shown interest in the player and is expected to welcome a formal commitment if he chooses to represent the country.
His decision is expected in the coming months, as he continues to settle into life at Chelsea and evaluate the best path forward for his international career.
