In a show of solidarity against racism, Brazil wore an all-black kit during the first half of their match against Guinea in Spain. The decision to abandon their traditional yellow colors was made in response to the racist abuse suffered by Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr while playing for Real Madrid in Spain.
The match, held at Espanyol's stadium in Barcelona, ended in a 4-1 victory for Brazil, with Vinicius converting a late penalty to seal the win. The incident involving Vinicius being racially abused in Spain was reported as a hate crime, and earlier this month, seven individuals were punished for their acts of racism towards the Brazilian player.
Prior to the game, both teams stood united behind a banner displaying the message "with racism, there is no game" in Portuguese. Newcastle midfielder Joelinton made his Brazil debut and scored the opening goal, while Rodrygo added a second before Guinea's Serhou Guirassy pulled one back.
In the second half, Brazil switched back to their traditional yellow shirts and blue shorts, and defender Eder Militao scored their third goal, followed by Vinicius converting a penalty.
