Heerenveen, a team competing in the Eredivisie, has escalated their concerns regarding CSKA Moscow's failure to fulfill their obligations in the transfer of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke.
Taking the matter to FIFA, Heerenveen has officially filed a complaint against CSKA Moscow, as reported by Voetbal Primeur.
The situation remains unresolved, leaving Heerenveen awaiting the full transfer fee for the highly talented 25-year-old player.
The transfer to CSKA Moscow was finalized in 2020 for a substantial sum of twelve million euros.
Although the first three payment installments were successfully completed according to the agreement between the two clubs, the fourth payment of three million euros, due in May 2022, has not been received, creating significant uncertainty for Heerenveen.
CSKA Moscow has attributed the delay in payment to the sanctions imposed on Russian banks due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
However, Heerenveen remains skeptical of this explanation and feels powerless in their attempts to resolve the issue.
Ferry de Haan, the club's director, has disclosed their efforts to involve various authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but acknowledges the unlikelihood of cooperation from the opposing side.
With FIFA now involved in the case, Heerenveen must wait for a resolution.
Interestingly, Chidera Ejuke, the player at the center of this transfer dispute, spent the current season on loan at Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga.
By using FIFA's provision to suspend his contract in Russia, against the wishes of CSKA Moscow, Ejuke managed to bypass his obligation to the Russian club.
However, following Hertha Berlin's relegation on the final day of the season, Ejuke has left the club. He is expected to return to CSKA Moscow for the upcoming season, but reports suggest that several Premier League clubs in England are interested in acquiring his services.
