Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes could take a significant hit with reports suggesting Kai Havertz may be sidelined for the rest of the season. The German forward reportedly suffered a torn hamstring during the club’s training camp in Dubai, with further assessments planned upon the team’s return to England.
While Arsenal has yet to confirm the severity of the injury, The Athletic has claimed the 25-year-old could miss the remainder of the campaign, dealing a major blow to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Havertz’s absence would exacerbate Arsenal’s attacking concerns, especially after their failure to secure reinforcements in the January transfer window. The club had attempted to sign Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins but was unsuccessful, leaving them with limited options upfront.
Arteta had counted on Havertz to lead the attack, particularly with Gabriel Jesus already out for the season due to an ACL injury and Bukayo Saka still recovering from a long-term setback. Gabriel Martinelli also remains sidelined after sustaining an injury in Arsenal’s League Cup defeat to Newcastle.
These injuries leave the Gunners with just Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and young prospect Ethan Nwaneri as their available forwards. Havertz, who has scored 15 goals in 34 appearances this season, was crucial to Arsenal’s attacking setup, making his potential long-term absence even more concerning.
Arteta is expected to address the situation in his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Leicester. The Gunners currently sit second in the Premier League, six points behind Liverpool with an extra game played, as they push for their first league title in 21 years.
