APR is on the verge of signing Nigerian striker Mbaoma

Reports indicate that Super Eagles forward Victor Mbaoma has reached an agreement to join APR, the reigning champions of the Rwanda Premier League.
Mbaoma, previously a standout player for Enyimba, is said to be en route to Kigali to finalize the details of his move and complete a two-year contract with APR.
Prior to his time with Enyimba, the 27-year-old had stints with Remo Stars and Akwa United in Nigeria.
After departing from USM Alger in Algeria, Mbaoma had a spell with Qizilqum Zarafshon in Uzbekistan.
However, he is now set to join APR, a move that could see him continue his rise in African football.
In 2021, Mbaoma made his debut for the Super Eagles in a 2-1 defeat against Mexico, and he also featured as a substitute in a match against Ecuador.
Meanwhile, APR is actively seeking other reinforcements for their squad.
They are reportedly pursuing the signature of Cameroonian forward Apam Assongwe, and Ugandan striker Taddeo Lwanga has been in Kigali for trial and medical assessments.
Despite their success in domestic competitions, with seven league titles and two peace cups to their name, APR has faced challenges in progressing to the group stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Last season, they were eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League, following a first-round exit in 2020.
