Anthony Taylor will not be refereeing any Premier League matches this weekend due to abuse he received on social media following Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. The English top-flight league is currently investigating the matter.
During the match, the 45-year-old referee handed out a Premier League record 14 yellow cards, including eight to Chelsea players. This heavy-handed approach has sparked controversy and contributed to the online abuse directed at Taylor.
As a result of the abuse, Taylor will not be on the field as a referee but will serve as the fourth official for two matches this weekend. He will be present in this role for the Southampton vs. Ipswich game on Saturday and the Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Nottingham Forest match on Sunday.
