Ruben Amorim has admitted that he may need to step down as Manchester United manager if the team's poor form continues into the next season. United's dismal finish to the current campaign reached a new low with a 2-0 loss to West Ham at Old Trafford, a side that had not won in their previous eight matches. Amorim questioned the club's mentality, stating that the fear of losing a game, which was once synonymous with a big club like United, seems to be disappearing.
The team's recent performance has been a cause for concern, with only two wins over relegated sides Ipswich and Leicester since January. This marks United's worst winless streak in the Premier League, having gone seven games without a victory.
Amorim, visibly frustrated, emphasized the need for significant reflection within the club and stressed that the focus should not solely be on the upcoming Europa League final but on broader cultural issues within the team.
United's struggles have placed them on track for their worst points total since the 1930-31 season, when they were relegated. Currently sitting 16th in the table with just 39 points, Amorim expressed his embarrassment over the team's performance and called for major changes within the club.
Regardless of the result in the Europa League final, he warned that without a serious overhaul, he may no longer be the right person for the job.
