Olympic triathlon gold medalist Alex Yee credited Sir Mo Farah for offering crucial support during a severe injury period.
Yee, currently the top male triathlete globally, faced a devastating bike accident in Sardinia six years ago, suffering a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and vertebrae.
Farah's encouraging words, combined with advice from Alistair Brownlee during rehabilitation, spurred Yee's determination to bounce back.
Recounting his journey on The National Lottery's podcast series with Sam Quek, Yee shared insights into his challenges and his ambitions for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
The 25-year-old champion, who previously showcased his track prowess by outrunning Farah in a 5,000m junior race, remains keen to inspire others by sharing his resilience story.
He emphasizes the significance of life beyond sport, a realization he had post-accident.
With the World Triathlon Championship Series finale approaching in Spain, Yee aspires to claim the world champion title.
He also eagerly anticipates the Paris Olympics, viewing it as almost a "home game" due to its proximity and the enthusiasm of his friends and family.
Yee's primary goal for the coming months is to be at his best for the individual and mixed relay events in Paris.
