Promising Nigerian fullback Olabade Aluko has been offered a new contract by Leicester City ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Following Leicester City's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed that three teenagers — Jeremy Monga, Jake Evans, and Olabade Aluko — are nearing contract signings, according to The Athletic.
While Monga, 15, and Evans, 16, are expected to sign scholarship agreements, 18-year-old Aluko is set to sign his first professional deal with the club.
Aluko made his Premier League debut on Sunday, entering as a substitute in the 89th minute for Victor Kristiansen, marking a significant milestone in his career.
By wearing the No. 77 jersey, Aluko became the youngest Leicester City player of Nigerian descent to appear in the Premier League at 18 years and 176 days old.
This achievement broke the previous record held by Wilfred Ndidi, who debuted at 20 years and 29 days during a Premier League match against Chelsea in January 2017.
A graduate of Leicester City’s Academy, Aluko earned the new contract after a strong season with the club’s youth teams, appearing regularly across various competitions and scoring twice in 24 matches, while pledging his international future to Nigeria despite eligibility for England.
