Young 11 FA Maintain Lead as Nathaniel Idowu U-16 League Race Intensifies

Posted : 13 October 2026

Young 11 FA strengthened their position at the top of the 2026 Nathaniel Idowu Under-16 Football League after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Moore Wins Foundation FA. The result extended their unbeaten run as the competition entered another important stage of its title race.

Week Six matches were played at the New Maracana Sports Complex in Tolu and the Nathaniel Idowu Football Pitch in Oregie. A total of 23 goals were scored across five fixtures, highlighting the attacking quality and competitiveness of the youth competition.

Young 11 FA's victory came through Raphael Atire, who scored in the 18th minute. The goal secured all three points and took the league leaders to 16 points from six matches.

Their defensive record has also been impressive. Young 11 have conceded just two goals this season, making their defensive organisation a key factor in their strong start.

Atico FA delivered the most emphatic result of the round with a commanding 9-0 win over Seraphic FA. Olajuwon Ayomide stole the spotlight with four goals, producing an outstanding individual performance that underlined his attacking ability.

The victory strengthened Atico FA's position in fourth place and boosted their hopes of qualifying for the Super Four. Their attacking display also sent a strong message to the teams competing for the remaining places in the end-of-season contest.

Ajegunle United SC also enjoyed a convincing afternoon, defeating Bright Star SA 4-0. Peter Adoga scored twice to lead the attack as Ajegunle moved level on points with Atico FA, keeping the contest for the upper positions tight.

St Petersburg FA returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Divinely Blessed FA. Ohemu Goodluck scored the decisive goal to give his side an important result after their previous setback.

The fixture between Fortune FA and SC Heritage produced the round's most closely contested encounter. Both teams shared four goals in a 2-2 draw after Akinola Olajide scored late to rescue a point for Fortune FA.

The result kept Fortune in second place with 13 points, while SC Heritage remained third on 11 points. Both sides will be looking to maintain their positions as the competition approaches its decisive phase.

The league is sponsored by the Nathaniel Idowu Foundation and organised by Peakline Sports World Limited under the leadership of Director-General McAnthony Anaelechukwu. The competition aims to develop young footballers and strengthen grassroots football in Nigeria.

With the Super Four scheduled for November 7, 2026, the battle for qualification is gathering momentum. Young 11 FA remain the team to catch, but Fortune FA, SC Heritage, Atico FA and Ajegunle United SC are still firmly in the race.
