Yobe Desert Stars FC are now shifting focus to their next match against Doma United FC after playing out a 0-0 draw in their opening game of the ongoing 2025 NNL Super 8 playoffs in Asaba, Delta State.
The Northern Conference side began their NNL Super 8 campaign with a hard-fought goalless draw against Barau FC of Kano State.
The match was high in energy, with both teams fighting intensely for victory. Despite creating several promising opportunities, neither side could convert their chances — a common scenario in the beautiful game.
Speaking after the match, Yobe Desert Stars’ head coach, Sallau Naira, praised his players for their effort and expressed confidence in the team's progress:
“It was a tough game. We had chances but didn’t score. We must stay focused and get better before the next match. I believe the boys will come back stronger.”
He added:
“Our target now is to approach our next opponent with determination and secure a result that will advance our dream of NPFL promotion.”
“With more hard work and better finishing, the Desert Stars can still reach our goal and earn a place in the NPFL 2025/26 season.”
Yobe Desert Stars will next face Doma United FC on Monday, July 7, 2025 — a key match for both sides in the race for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
