Xavi aims for Spanish Super Cup triumph to spark Barcelona's LaLiga title ascent

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is hopeful that winning the Spanish Super Cup will serve as a catalyst to rejuvenate their LaLiga title pursuit, similar to last season's impact. After defeating Real Madrid 3-1 in the Super Cup final last year, Barcelona secured nine victories in their next 10 league matches, ultimately topping the standings.

 

Currently positioned third, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid, Xavi sees the Super Cup as a potential turning point for the team's morale and confidence, echoing the positive impact it had in the previous season.

 

Speaking ahead of Barcelona's Super Cup semifinal against Osasuna, Xavi expressed the desire to replicate last year's success and emphasized the tournament's significance in preparing for the second half of the season. After a recent setback with a LaLiga loss to Girona, Barcelona seeks a boost in their title challenge.

 

Despite being favorites against Osasuna, Xavi emphasized the importance of avoiding mistakes in the knockout match, acknowledging the potential consequences.

 

The Super Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, with the winner between Barcelona and Osasuna set to face the victor of the Madrid derby between Real and Atletico, taking place on Wednesday.
