Xabi Alonso is reportedly preparing for a dramatic summer overhaul at Real Madrid, drawing comparisons to the club's monumental transfer window in 2009 when he joined as a player alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Kaka, and others.
According to Marca, the former Bayer Leverkusen coach, who was officially unveiled just two days ago, is guiding Madrid through one of its most ambitious recruitment drives in recent years.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen already secured, and Álvaro Carreras expected to arrive from Benfica, the club appears poised for a full-scale transformation.
The next major target on Alonso’s list is a central playmaker to anchor his midfield. Angelo Stiller, currently with Stuttgart and a recent German Cup winner, has emerged as a leading candidate.
The 24-year-old midfielder caught Alonso’s attention during his time coaching in the Bundesliga and comes highly recommended by retiring Madrid icon Toni Kroos.
Stiller had an impressive season, tallying four goals and 11 assists across 47 appearances, including a standout performance in the cup final where he scored twice in a 4–2 win over Arminia Bielefeld.
Alongside Stiller, Real Madrid is also eyeing a return for Argentine midfielder Nico Paz, who had a strong season on loan at Como in Italy’s Serie A under Cesc Fabregas, registering six goals and nine assists.
Despite interest from Inter and other top clubs, Madrid is optimistic about bringing Paz back, potentially leveraging Como’s interest in Real's academy players. Marca emphasized that the club's new approach favors cohesive, team-oriented players over high-profile stars, aiming to build an identity rooted in unity and long-term development rather than just marquee signings.
