Wolverhampton Wanderers Open To Tolu Arokodare Loan Exit Following Premier League Relegation

Posted : 20 May 2026

Nigerian international forward Tolu Arokodare could be set to depart Wolverhampton Wanderers on a short-term basis during the upcoming summer transfer window. The developmental updates come right after the West Midlands side suffered a catastrophic relegation from the English Premier League down to the Championship. The old gold club endured an incredibly difficult 2025/2026 domestic season, confirming their demotion to the second tier with multiple matches left to play.

Arokodare initially finalized a high-profile move to Molineux from Belgian Pro League outfit KRC Genk last summer. The transfer deal was reported to be worth an estimated fee of 24 million euros; he joined with massive expectations following a prolific goal-scoring career in Belgium. However, the towering twenty-five-year-old striker struggled immensely to adapt to the rigorous physical demands and quick tactical pace of top-flight English football.

The powerful Super Eagles attacker managed to record just three goals in twenty-eight league appearances as Wolves sat firmly at the bottom of the table. Media reports from talkSPORT suggest that senior club directors are now actively looking to sanction a loan departure for the forward. Club decision-makers reportedly believe that finding a permanent buyer for the out-of-form striker would prove almost impossible in the current market.

Despite his underwhelming performances across the English landscape, several mainland European teams are still tracking the former Valmiera and Amiens forward. Arokodare currently holds an estimated market valuation of roughly 18 million euros. Wolverhampton Wanderers interim executive chairman Nathan Shi has already promised fans a complete squad overhaul this summer, meaning several underperforming stars will likely clear out their lockers.
