2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 10 Review: Wikki Tourists End Shooting Stars’ Impressive Run

Posted : 27 October 2025
Wikki Tourists halted Shooting Stars’ unbeaten streak with a 2–0 home win in Bauchi, marking their first victory in four games.

Wikki Tourists of Bauchi have successfully brought an end to the impressive run of Shooting Stars SC in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 10 fixture, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

The Baby Elephants returned to winning ways with a 2–0 victory after enduring four tough outings without a win.

The Tourists thrilled their faithful supporters with a commanding display, securing a comfortable two-goal win over visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

From the start, the Bauchi-based side showed hunger and purpose, pressing high and dominating play. Their persistence paid off in the 30th minute, when Abdullahi Usman “Pepe” calmly slotted home a low strike to open the scoring.

The moment of brilliance came just before halftime as Jonathan Mairiga executed a stunning bicycle kick in the 42nd minute, sending the ball over a Shooting Stars defender and into the net — a goal worthy of celebration across the stands.

In the second half, Wikki Tourists maintained control, displaying solid defensive organization and composure to protect their lead until the final whistle — a sign that confidence is gradually returning to the team.

Head Coach Abdu Maikaba expressed his delight after the match, praising his players for their determination and fighting spirit:

“This victory means a lot to us. It’s a good return to winning ways. The boys showed real character today, and we are determined to build on this. We thank our supporters and pray that Allah continues to bless us with more victories.”

This crucial win not only boosts morale in the camp but also reignites hope among the Wikki Tourists faithful, who have stood by the team during recent struggles.

It’s a strong statement that the Tourists are back on track and ready to climb the NPFL standings.

Next up, Wikki Tourists will travel to Kano to face Barau FC on Match Day 11 — another opportunity to extend their resurgence.
