West Ham have finalized the signing of Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal valued at up to £2 million. The 30-year-old joins the Hammers until the end of the season, with an option to extend for a further year. The initial fee is reported to be £1 million, with additional add-ons potentially taking the total to £2 million.
Traore moves from west to east London, where he will reunite with Nuno Espirito Santo, who managed him during his time at Wolves. The Spanish winger, capped eight times by his country, has struggled for regular game time at Fulham this season, making only two Premier League starts. His last appearance came in Fulham’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Middlesbrough on January 10.
Upon joining West Ham, Traore expressed enthusiasm for his new challenge. “I'm so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” he said. “My mentality is always to improve as a player and help the team as much as I can. I love challenges, and we will take it game by game, giving our best in every match. Everything comes from belief, and I believe we will achieve our goals.”
Traore began his professional career at Barcelona and has had spells at Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Wolves before joining Fulham in 2023 on a free transfer. Known for his pace and dribbling, he brings experience and versatility to West Ham’s attack as the club looks to strengthen its squad amid a relegation battle.
The Hammers have been highly active during the January transfer window, securing forwards Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for £20 million and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for £25.2 million. They are also negotiating the potential sale of midfielder Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo, having already sold Guido Rodriguez to Valencia and Luis Guilherme to Sporting. Additionally, Niclas Fullkrug has joined AC Milan on loan.
West Ham enter the final months of the season in a precarious position, sitting in the relegation zone with 20 points—five points from safety—despite victories in their last two league games. With 15 fixtures remaining, the club is hoping that Traore’s arrival and their winter reinforcements can help secure Premier League survival.
