2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 21: We are in Kaduna to reclaim lost points in last league matches, boasts Abia Warriors' captain, Augustine Njoku

Posted : 25 February 2024

As Abia Warriors players and officials safely arrived in Kaduna ahead of the team's Match Day 21 encounter against hosts Niger Tornadoes, the team's captain, Augustine Njoku, is determined to secure a convincing win against their hosts.

Recalling that the Pride of Abia had won the reverse fixture by a lone goal, they are confident of beating their hosts.

Captain Augustine Njoku mentioned that the team had put the woes of the winless streak behind them and is now focused on securing an away win against Niger Tornadoes.

"We have lost 4 points at home, playing two draws against Sporting Lagos and Remo Stars, so we are going to Niger Tornadoes to reclaim the lost points. We are going for the maximum points," he said.

The Technical Adviser of the Umuahia-based club side, Coach Erasmus Onuh, urged the club's supporters to expect a good result.

"Well, it's going to be a cracker; I say it's going to be a cracker. The Remo group came here and disorganized us; we will not leave the other people free. It's going to be a cracker; just expect a result."

Abia Warriors will play against Niger Tornadoes in an NPFL fixture at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. Currently, there are no injury concerns in the team.

Following the departure of some playing staff, the club has signed six players: Godwin Udoh (striker), Igwe Igweuzo (striker), Kingsley Arum (striker), Fabian Omaka (midfielder), Aliyu Mohammed (left back), and Ijoma Desouza (striker).

The NPFL Stadium inspection team visited the Umuahia Township Stadium during the week. The team was impressed with the state of the lush green pitch.

The leader of the delegation, Mr. Perela Aboro, shared his thoughts with newsmen immediately after inspecting the turf.

"I have a good impression of the pitch, no doubt about it... it's very okay. It's very, very okay, no two ways about it."
