Sporting Lagos FC will welcome the beloved Shooting Stars SC to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Monday for the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 18 in another Southwest derby.

Both teams have been underperforming in recent times, struggling in their last fixtures.

For Sporting Lagos FC, they have failed to secure a victory in the last five matches and did not win a single match throughout December.

Sporting Lagos FC, in the 10 matches of the current Premier League season, has 2 wins, 5 losses, and 3 draws at home.

This record places the team in 18th place in the standings. The average number of goals scored and conceded by Sporting Lagos FC at home is 10 and 3, respectively, giving a difference of +7.

As for Shooting Stars SC, the team recently secured a win over Bayelsa United FC after enduring six weeks of winless games.

In the 2023/2024 NPFL, in the last 10 games, Shooting Stars have played 10 games, winning 3, losing 4, and drawing 3 times in total.

The Oluyole Warriors have scored 5 goals and conceded 16, resulting in a goal difference of -11, and they currently occupy the 10th spot in the table.

However, Sporting Lagos now finds themselves in troubled relegation waters and will have to do more to appease the Lagos fans.

Acknowledging the significance of the game, the Tech Boys' goal poacher, Jonathan Alukwu, stated that the Southwest derby would end well in favor of his team.

"We need to win this match because it is very important to us," he said.

Head to head:
Both teams have yet to play against each other competitively.
