Warri Wolves Set Sights on Continental Football, Ambakederemo Says

Warri Wolves FC have set their sights on a return to continental football, with chairman Neville Ambakederemo identifying the club’s next two home fixtures as crucial to achieving the ambition.

Ambakederemo disclosed this in an exclusive interview with faksmedia.com on Thursday, saying the club had been given a clear mandate to compete for a continental ticket in the 2026/2027 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

“Ohis, we have already been given a target. It is not just to participate in the league; we have been told to set our eyes on the continent, at least,” he said.

The chairman said the club had opened its campaign with two away fixtures and would now welcome Kwara United and Rangers in successive home matches in Ozoro.

He expressed confidence that Warri Wolves could secure maximum points from both encounters and use the results as a springboard for their continental objective.

“We started with two away games, and now we have Kwara United to play at home. Next again is Rangers, also at home in Ozoro. I believe in the boys to get the maximum six points. Then we can say the dream for the continent has begun,” he said.

Ambakederemo also acknowledged the contribution of the Delta State Government and the State Sports Commission to the club’s activities.

He said the support had provided the team with the necessary backing as it seeks to establish itself as a competitive force in the NPFL.

The Warri Wolves chairman further stressed that the club’s ambition would require a collective effort involving the government, Sports Commission, players, technical crew and supporters.

With two home fixtures next on their schedule, the Wolves will look to turn their home advantage into points as they begin the next phase of their campaign and pursue their stated continental objective.
