Experienced Nigerian coach Hassan Abdallah has broken his silence regarding his controversial departure from Heartland FC. The veteran tactician revealed that his brief tenure with the Owerri-based club was marred by internal sabotage and financial disputes. Abdallah managed the "Naze Millionaires" for approximately two months during their 2021-2022 campaign in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
During his time at the club, Abdallah claims he was the victim of a malicious setup involving bribery allegations. He stated that certain individuals within the club's circle attempted to ruin his reputation to force his exit. The coach insisted these accusations were completely fabricated and designed to distract from the club's internal management issues.
Financial instability was another major factor cited by the former Flying Eagles assistant coach. Abdallah revealed that his coaching staff and players went unpaid for long periods during his stay. He emphasized that he is still owed a significant amount of money by Heartland FC several years later. He noted that he was forced to leave the club without any official support or settlement of his contract.
Abdallah is currently the head coach of Warri Wolves in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). His current side recently faced a difficult weekend in Owerri, the home of his former employers. Warri Wolves suffered a 3-0 defeat against Kun Khalifat FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Uchechukwu Onuoha and Nnorom Nmesoma secured the win for the hosts in the Matchday 34 encounter.
Despite the heavy loss with Warri Wolves, Abdallah has remained focused on his team's top-ten ambitions in the league standings. He recently expressed optimism that the Seasiders could still improve their position before the season concludes. However, the recent trip to Owerri clearly brought back difficult memories of his previous professional ordeal in the city.
The coach’s revelations highlight the recurring issues of administrative friction and debt in Nigerian club football. Heartland FC has not yet issued an official response to these specific allegations of bribery setups or the outstanding debts. Abdallah’s comments serve as a reminder of the challenges domestic coaches face regarding job security and professional respect.
Warri Wolves will now look to bounce back from their recent defeat as the NPFL season enters its final stages. Abdallah remains determined to prove his tactical worth despite the shadows of his past experiences at Heartland. The veteran manager continues to demand transparency and fair treatment for technical staff across the Nigerian football landscape.
