Ahead of the tournament, the Chairman of the Delta State Football Association (DFA), Godwin Adode, has urged the players to go all out for victory when the Super 8 kicks off on Saturday, July 5, at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba.
Adode called on the players to maintain the same impressive form that saw them qualify for the playoffs, noting that Deltans have longed for top-tier football over the last four years.
“You are ambassadors of Delta State,” Adode said. “You carry the hopes and aspirations of over 5 million Deltans. Warri Wolves is the pride of our people, and this is not the time to falter when our dream of elite football is within reach.”
He urged the team to stay focused and committed to the ultimate goal, emphasizing that having topped their group during the regular season, they must now "put the icing on the cake" by securing promotion.
Adode also reassured the team of unwavering support from the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the people of Delta State.
“You have the full backing of your people. Make us proud,” he added.
He encouraged fans to come out in large numbers to the stadium and cheer on the team, stating that the home support could make a significant difference in securing promotion.
Warri Wolves will battle Crown FC of Ogbomoso, Osun United of Osogbo, and Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri for the two available promotion slots in the Southern Conference of the NNL Super 8.
