Osimhen's Galatasaray loan has €90 million exit clause

Posted : 30 September 2024

New details have surfaced regarding Victor Osimhen's loan transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray this summer. The Nigerian forward is expected to stay with the Turkish club until the season concludes. However, a significant clause in his contract could allow for an earlier exit as soon as January.

According to transfer market expert Ciro Venerato, who spoke on Rai 2's Domenica Sportiva, Osimhen could depart from Galatasaray if a non-Italian club offers around €90 million. This clause adds an intriguing dynamic to his situation, as it indicates that other teams are keeping a close eye on the talented striker.

If such a transfer occurs, Galatasaray would benefit from a severance payment, which is a crucial financial aspect of the deal. Notably, the clause is designed to prevent any Italian clubs from activating this exit option, ensuring that Osimhen's immediate future is tied to Galatasaray and not any Serie A teams.

Should no transfer materialize in January, Osimhen’s availability in June would come at a slightly lower fee, with no severance involved in that case. Additionally, Napoli holds a unilateral option to extend his contract until 2027, offering them further control over his future.

On the field, Osimhen has quickly made a name for himself at Galatasaray. He notably scored twice during an exciting 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa in the Süper Lig, showcasing his ability to find the back of the net early in his tenure with the club.

His first goal was a well-placed header in the 20th minute, coming from an accurate cross by Abdulkerim Bardakci. Just eight minutes later, he struck again with a powerful shot following a pass from Gabriel Sara, further solidifying his impact on the match.

With these two goals, Osimhen became the first Galatasaray player since Bafetimbi Gomis in 2017 to register four or more goals in his first three league matches. Mauro Icardi also contributed to the scoring, netting a third goal for the Lions, but Kasımpaşa's resilient performance allowed them to secure a 3-3 draw.
