Unification Ladies Target Strong Start Despite Tough Group at 2026 NWFL Championship

Unification Ladies are approaching the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship with confidence despite being drawn in what the club believes is one of the competition's toughest groups.

The club's Director, Tobi Oyekan, said the team is fully prepared to embrace the challenge and remains optimistic about its chances of progressing to the next stage of the promotion tournament.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ECHONEWS, Oyekan acknowledged the difficulty of the group's composition but insisted that his side has what it takes to compete.

"The group appears to be a tough one, but nevertheless, we are optimistic about our chances of progressing," he said.

Oyekan also expressed satisfaction with the team's level of preparation, describing the squad's overall performance as "decent" following the successful integration of players from the club's development team with the elite squad.

"I would rate their overall performance as 'decent,' considering the steady growth and successful integration of our development team (feeders) with the elite players," he said.

According to Oyekan, everyone at the club understands the significance of the championship and is determined to remain focused on securing one of the available promotion tickets.

"We know what's at stake as a club, and we will remain focused on achieving the ultimate prize the championship has to offer," he said.

Unification Ladies will rely on a balanced squad that combines experienced campaigners with emerging talents from their feeder programme as they seek to make a strong impression and earn promotion to the NWFL Premiership.
