Ikorodu City FC Chairman, Sanmi Doherty, has hailed the outstanding achievements of Ikorodu City FA Head Coach, Washington Egor, after the tactician guided the club to a second successive promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) without losing a match.
Egor completed another flawless Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign, extending his unbeaten streak to 24 matches across the 2025 and 2026 seasons. During the remarkable run, his side recorded 19 wins and five draws, underlining the coach's consistency and tactical discipline.
The latest success followed another dominant campaign in which Ikorodu City FA progressed through the group stage unbeaten before sealing promotion in the playoffs with victories over Edwin Collins FC, Ablaze FC and Francasexx FC, alongside a draw against FC Hephzibah.
The feat came barely a year after Egor led the Lagos-based side to promotion in 2025, when the team also went through the entire NLO season unbeaten, defeating Lekki United and Francasexx FC in the promotion playoffs before drawing with Magic Stars to secure passage to the NNL.
Commending the coach, Doherty described the achievement as a landmark moment for the club and a testament to Egor's quality as one of Nigeria's brightest young coaches.
"Coach Washington Egor has once again demonstrated why he is one of the finest young coaches in Nigerian football.
"To secure promotion to the Nigeria National League in successive seasons without losing a single match is an extraordinary achievement that deserves national recognition," Doherty said.
According to him, Egor has successfully built a winning culture while nurturing young talents capable of competing at higher levels.
"He has built a winning culture, developed talented players and consistently delivered results under pressure.
"His unbeaten record of 24 NLO matches over two seasons speaks volumes about his tactical intelligence, consistency and dedication to the game," he added.
Doherty reaffirmed the club's commitment to supporting the coach's continued development, expressing confidence that greater opportunities await him in Nigerian football.
"This is only the beginning. We believe Coach Washington Egor has the qualities to achieve even greater success in Nigerian football.
"We will continue to support his growth because his future is incredibly bright, and I have no doubt that bigger opportunities await him," he said.
The latest promotion further reinforces Ikorodu City FA's reputation as one of Lagos State's leading grassroots football institutions, with the club continuing to produce talented players while maintaining an impressive record of success in the NLO.
Egor's latest accomplishment highlights the club's sustained progress and strengthens its ambition of establishing itself as a consistent force in Nigerian football through player development and competitive success.
