Nigeria’s U-20 boys, the Flying Eagles, have arrived in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt, as the seven-time African champions prepare for the 17th Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals, which will begin in the North African country on Sunday.
A delegation of 24 players and nine officials, led by Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu, touched down at Cairo International Airport aboard an Egypt Air flight on Sunday evening.
The team is staying at Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort and is expected to have their first training session on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles will face the host nation, the Young Pharaohs of Egypt, on Tuesday evening as part of their preparation for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 18.
The match is set for 5 p.m. local time (4 p.m. Nigeria time) at Cairo International Stadium.
Nigeria will kick off their campaign against Tunisia at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Thursday, May 1.
The Africa U-20 Cup of Nations also serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals, which will be held from September 27 to October 19 in Chile.
All four semi-finalists at the tournament in Egypt will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals.
