`Twist and Turn' Bayelsa Utd FC makes U-turn on kit sponsorships deal 24 hours after

Barely 24 hours after announcing a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal, the management of Bayelsa United, based in Yenagoa, has quickly reversed the decision, stating that the team will no longer use branded jerseys for their league matches.


The Prosperity Boys disclosed this in a statement sent to the Nigeria Premier Football League.


According to the statement, Bayelsa United has stopped using their branded jerseys until issues are resolved between their sponsors, Halkin Exploration and Production Limited, and the state government.


The former Federation Cup champions unveiled a new kit over the weekend that featured the name of their sponsor.


Bayelsa United will face Rivers United in a rescheduled matchday 12 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Thursday.


The Yenagoa-based team returned to winning ways over the weekend, ending their six-game winless run.


Bayelsa United currently occupies the last position in the NPFL table.
