Turkish Giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe Enter Race for Wolves Striker Tolu Arokodare

Posted : 14 April 2026

Istanbul powerhouses Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have reportedly joined the pursuit of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare ahead of the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old forward currently plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers, but his future at Molineux is uncertain due to the club's poor domestic form. Wolves currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table and are on the verge of relegation to the Championship.

Transfer expert Ekrem Konur reports that both Turkish clubs are monitoring the situation closely with a view to a loan deal. Galatasaray are specifically looking for a successor to veteran striker Mauro Icardi, who is expected to depart at the end of the season. Fenerbahçe are also in need of attacking reinforcements, especially with rumors circulating about the potential permanent departure of Tammy Abraham.

Arokodare moved to Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer in a deal worth approximately €27 million. Despite the high expectations following his 21-goal season in Belgium, his transition to English football has been difficult. The striker has managed just six goals and two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this season for the struggling West Midlands side.

Beşiktaş are also rumored to be interested, potentially involving Nigerian figures like Daniel Amokachi to help persuade the player. However, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe remain the frontrunners as they look to capitalize on Wolves' precarious league position. A move to Turkey would offer Arokodare the chance to compete for silverware and play in European competitions next season.

The Nigerian international has a long-term contract at Molineux that runs until 2029. This means Wolves hold a strong negotiating position, though a loan might be the most feasible path for Turkish teams. The club's imminent relegation makes a squad overhaul likely, and Arokodare is viewed as one of the primary candidates for an exit.

Standing at 1.97 meters tall, Arokodare’s physical profile as a "target man" makes him an attractive prospect for the Turkish Süper Lig. His aerial dominance and ability to hold up play are seen as perfect fits for the tactical demands of the Istanbul giants. Scouts from both teams have been present at recent Premier League fixtures to evaluate his performance.

No official bids have been submitted yet, but the rivalry between the three Istanbul clubs is expected to drive negotiations quickly once the window opens. For Arokodare, the move could represent a vital opportunity to reset his career after a tough debut year in England. The coming weeks will determine if the "Old Gold" striker makes the switch to the Bosphorus.
