Trabzonspor are actively pushing to secure Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu on a permanent deal before the player leaves for his summer holiday, after a strong loan spell last season, according to recent reports.
The 30-year-old Nigerian, currently contracted to Premier League side Southampton, scored 17 goals in 25 matches while on loan at Trabzonspor during the 2023–24 campaign—a performance that ignited his countryman club’s interest in making the move permanent.
Southampton are believed to value Onuachu at approximately €10–15 million, while Trabzonspor have tabled a club-record bid in the range of €6–8 million, often structured with performance-related bonuses. The Turkish club is determined to resolve the deal before Onuachu begins his holiday, underscoring their tactical urgency amid the close of the summer transfer window .
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan recently confirmed the club’s readiness to invest a record fee for the striker, although negotiations are ongoing as Southampton await a bid closer to their valuation.
If successful, Onuachu would become Trabzonspor’s priciest signing in history. Either way, the club is reportedly lining up backup options—including fellow Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare—should negotiations fall through.
The loan window officially closes shortly, and a definitive decision is expected soon. Onuachu himself has yet to publicly request a move, and Southampton have confirmed no formal transfer request has been submitted . As both clubs seek common ground, Trabzonspor are racing against the clock to finalize the striker’s stay before he jets off on holiday.
