Trabzonspor Demand €35m For Fulham Target Chibuike Nwaiwu

Posted : 19 June 2026

Turkish giants Trabzonspor have set a massive thirty-five million euros price tag on Nigerian center-back Chibuike Nwaiwu. The sudden decision follows intensive transfer inquiries from multiple European teams ahead of the summer marketplace opening. The twenty-two-year-old defensive anchor only arrived in Turkey during the recent January window from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC.

Nwaiwu quickly adjusted to his new surroundings and became an indispensable pillar within the club's defensive lineup. He recorded three crucial goals and provided one assist across sixteen domestic league appearances during the second half of the season. Furthermore, his highly commanding presence helped the team secure the prestigious Turkish Cup trophy following a final victory over Konyaspor.

Turkish media source Taka Gazete reports that the Super Lig outfit remains determined to keep the talented defender. However, the hierarchy is willing to sanction a permanent sale if an interested suitor matches their steep valuation. The club paid a reported fee of five point five million euros to secure his services initially.

Trabzonspor officials have already initiated contingency plans by identifying potential long-term replacements to secure their backline. The management has expressed strong interest in young Gambian international defender Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh, who currently plays for Tromso IL. The club is reportedly willing to offer a seven million euros transfer package to complete the deal.

English Premier League side Fulham are closely tracking Nwaiwu as they look to bolster their central defensive unit. The London-based club is currently preparing an initial formal opening offer exceeding ten million euros to test Trabzonspor's resolve. The promising defender is highly tempted by a lucrative move to the demanding English top flight.

A potential transfer to Craven Cottage would see Nwaiwu reunite with several familiar international teammates. Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are already regular key figures within the current Fulham squad. Additionally, the West London side is simultaneously exploring a double transfer move to acquire his club defensive partner Wagner Pina.

Nwaiwu also enjoyed international success this summer by helping rookie goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo record consecutive clean sheets. The defender put in dominant displays during the international break against tough opponents Zimbabwe and Jamaica. His recent impressive outings on the global stage have significantly inflated his current market value across major European leagues.

Trabzonspor remain in an exceptionally powerful negotiating position since the player signed a contract running until June 2030. The upcoming weeks will decide if Fulham matches the thirty-five million euros fee or shifts focus elsewhere. The Nigerian star remains fully focused on his professional development while his representatives handle the unfolding transfer saga.
