Trabzonspor are reportedly on the verge of securing a permanent move for Nigerian international Paul Onuachu, who spent the 2023/2024 season on loan from English club Southampton.
The 30-year-old striker made a significant impact during his time in Turkey, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists in 21 league appearances. His performances quickly made him a fan favourite and a key figure in Trabzonspor’s attacking setup.
Initial negotiations between Trabzonspor and Southampton began with an offer believed to be around €7 million, which fell short of the Premier League side’s valuation. However, talks have since progressed positively, with both clubs reportedly edging closer to an agreement.
Sources close to the discussions suggest that Southampton may now be open to reducing their initial asking price, paving the way for a potential deal to be concluded before the start of pre-season.
Onuachu has also expressed his desire to remain at Trabzonspor, where he found form and stability after a challenging spell in England. His potential return would provide a significant boost to Trabzonspor’s ambitions for the 2025/2026 season.
Club officials remain optimistic that the transfer will be finalized soon, allowing the striker to rejoin his teammates and continue his impressive form in the Turkish Super Lig.
