Toulouse stuns Nice with 2-1 comeback victory, dashing Nice’s hopes for third place

Nice squandered an opportunity to secure the third spot in Ligue 1 as Toulouse mounted a comeback, defeating them 2-1 on home turf.

 

 Terem Moffi initially put Nice in the lead with a goal in the eighth minute. Despite their early advantage, Toulouse, victorious against Monaco and Lille in previous outings, gained control in the second half, sealing the game with two rapid goals.

 

In the 65th minute, Romain Perraud's failure to intercept a pass allowed Warren Kamanzi to cross the ball to Thijs Dallinga, who scored his ninth goal of the season.

 

 Just four minutes later, Dallinga turned provider, setting up Yann Gboho for a goal that involved a skillful maneuver around Pablo Rosario, securing Toulouse's victory. The win propelled Toulouse to tenth place, surpassing Lyon, while Nice missed an opportunity to climb above Monaco and Lille, remaining in fifth.

 

Notably, it was the first time Nice lost a game after holding a lead since May 2022, ending a streak of 30 matches. Despite the loss, Paris Saint-Germain leads the Ligue 1 table, with second-placed Brest having a chance to narrow the gap to eight points if they win against Le Havre on Sunday.
