Tottenham manager includes two Nigerian teens for Bodo/Glimt match

Posted : 08 May 2025

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has included two Nigerian-born teenagers in his squad for the Europa League semifinal second leg against Bodo/Glimt in Norway, as reported by Spurs insider Lilywhite Rose.

Damola Ajayi, 19, and Callum Olusesi, 18, both academy players, have traveled with the team to Aspmyra Stadion and are in contention to feature in tonight’s match.

The two youngsters have been named in the provisional squad, filling in for injured first-team players James Maddison and Son Heung-min.

Ajayi, a forward, has already been involved in nine first-team matches this season, including three in the Europa League. His senior debut in January was a memorable one, as he scored after coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Elfsborg.

Olusesi, a midfielder, also made his senior debut in January, coming on as a substitute in the final minutes of a 3-2 victory over TSG Hoffenheim in the Europa League. This season, he has been part of 21 matchday squads.

Tottenham Hotspur are in a strong position to reach the final after securing a 3-1 victory in the first leg at home. They made an explosive start to the match, with Brennan Johnson scoring the fastest goal in Europa League semifinal history in just 39 seconds. James Maddison and Dominic Solanke added further goals to give Spurs a 3-0 lead by the 61st minute.

Bodo/Glimt managed to pull one back late in the game, with Ulrik Saltnes scoring a composed goal after evading the Tottenham defense.
