Tottenham Join Race for Super Eagles Star Victor Osimhen in Ambitious Summer Move

Posted : 03 August 2026

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped up their interest in Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as they look to strengthen their attack before the new Premier League season.

Reports claim Spurs are preparing to open formal discussions with Galatasaray after identifying the Nigerian international as one of their top transfer targets. The North London club are said to believe personal terms with the 27-year-old would not be a major obstacle if an agreement can be reached between both clubs.

Galatasaray are believed to value Osimhen at around £65 million, with reports suggesting Tottenham have already tested the Turkish champions' resolve with offers below that figure. Negotiations are expected to continue if Spurs decide to pursue the deal more aggressively.

However, Tottenham are not alone in the race. Manchester United and Chelsea continue to monitor the striker's situation, while Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move. The growing interest could increase both the transfer fee and wage demands before the window closes.

Osimhen has built a reputation as one of Europe's most consistent goalscorers. After impressing at Lille, he starred for Napoli, helping the Italian club win the Serie A title while claiming the league's Golden Boot during the 2022-23 campaign.

The Nigerian continued that form after joining Galatasaray, winning the Turkish Süper Lig Golden Boot in his first season despite arriving after the campaign had already begun. Last season he remained one of the club's standout performers, contributing 30 goals and assists across all competitions, including an impressive return in the UEFA Champions League, further enhancing his reputation across Europe.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be keen to add another elite striker despite having several attacking options. Spurs have invested heavily in the transfer market this summer and are still searching for more firepower as De Zerbi reshapes his squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.

For Osimhen, another move could present the opportunity to return to one of Europe's top five leagues and test himself again in the Premier League after previously attracting strong interest from English clubs.

Whether Tottenham can convince Galatasaray to lower their asking price remains to be seen, but the Nigerian forward is expected to remain one of the biggest names to watch for the rest of the summer transfer window.
