Tottenham Hotspur manager Postecoglou aims for Premier League title in long-term vision

Tottenham Hotspur's manager, Ange Postecoglou, emphasized the necessity of establishing long-term consistency to fulfill the club's "ultimate goal" of clinching the Premier League title, as they prepare for their upcoming match against Newcastle United. Despite their strong pursuit of a Champions League spot in Postecoglou's debut season, he aims to emulate the sustained competitiveness demonstrated by rival clubs over the years in vying for the league championship.

 

The North London side's quest for domestic glory has been marked by a significant drought, with their last league triumph dating back to 1961 and a trophyless streak extending over 16 years since their League Cup victory in 2008. Despite promising finishes in previous seasons, including third-place finishes and a memorable run to the Champions League final in 2019, Spurs have yet to claim the Premier League crown.

 

Speaking to TNT Sports, Postecoglou reiterated his ambition for Spurs to ascend to the summit of English football, highlighting the formidable challenge posed by established top-tier clubs with rich histories of success. He acknowledged the need for Spurs to bridge the gap and achieve the level of consistent performance required to challenge for the title on a regular basis, recognizing that while a one-off triumph may be attainable, sustained excellence over multiple seasons is the true measure of success.

 

Currently occupying fourth place in the league standings with 60 points, Tottenham remains firmly in contention for a top-four finish. With their sights set on Champions League qualification, Postecoglou and his team recognize the importance of maintaining momentum and maximizing their potential in pursuit of their long-term objective of Premier League glory.
