The 2025 FCT Football Association League commenced with excitement and competitive flair on Monday, July 16, as several teams made strong statements in their opening matches.
The month-long tournament, which features 18 teams grouped into three pools, is being hosted at prominent venues in Abuja, including the Area 3 Playing Pitch and the Old Parade Ground.
Day 1 of the league delivered a series of intense and entertaining matches. CASMATT FC made a confident start by defeating Gwarinpa FC 3–1, showcasing sharp attacking play and solid team coordination.
Golden Boys of Ushafa edged IB Sports in a 4–3 thriller, while Defence Strikers FC overcame Royal FC by the same scoreline in a pulsating clash. Youthful Ballers impressed with a 2–0 win over Camp United, and Pride FC narrowly beat Makinz FC 1–0 to earn three points.
In a more defensive contest, Ramsaky Optimum and their opponents played out a goalless draw, with both sides sharing the spoils.
As the tournament continues, fans can expect more drama, emerging talents, and intense rivalries, as the teams aim for top spots and qualification to the Super Six showdown later in the competition.
The FCT FA League remains one of the key grassroots tournaments in the region, providing a platform for clubs to showcase their abilities and nurture future football stars.
