Premier League Free Agents: Top Stars Still Searching for New Clubs Ahead of 2026-27 Season

Posted : 27 July 2026

With the start of the 2026-27 Premier League campaign fast approaching, a number of established players are still without clubs after their contracts expired. While some are weighing up their next move, others are attracting interest from teams across Europe and beyond as the transfer window enters a crucial phase.

Among the biggest names on the market is England defender John Stones, who ended a trophy-laden 10-year spell at Manchester City. The 32-year-old won multiple major honours during his time at the Etihad Stadium and remains an attractive option despite recent injury setbacks. Reports have linked him with a return to Everton, while AC Milan and Juventus have also been credited with interest.

Mohamed Salah is another high-profile free agent following his departure from Liverpool. The Egyptian forward's final months at Anfield were overshadowed by a deteriorating relationship with former manager Arne Slot, and although a move to Saudi Arabia had been widely anticipated after the World Cup, recent reports suggest Turkish side Besiktas are now among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Jadon Sancho is also searching for a new challenge after his Manchester United exit. Since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, the winger struggled to establish himself and spent much of the past two-and-a-half seasons out on loan, including spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa. Qatari club Al-Rayyan are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old.

Former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is hoping to remain in the Premier League after an injury-hit campaign limited his appearances. Fulham are believed to be among the clubs considering a move for the Mali international, who is eager to continue playing in England's top flight.

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is another experienced player available on a free transfer. After serving as Manchester City's deputy goalkeeper before spending last season with Nottingham Forest, the 33-year-old has reportedly emerged as a target for Greek champions Olympiacos.

Tyrell Malacia's difficult spell at Manchester United has also come to an end. Persistent injury problems, including a serious knee issue that kept him out for more than 500 days, severely disrupted the Dutch left-back's career. Since returning to action, he has made only a handful of appearances and is now looking for a fresh start.

Spanish winger Adama Traore is another notable free agent after leaving West Ham United following the club's relegation. The powerful attacker has been linked with a return to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he previously enjoyed five productive seasons.

Several other experienced Premier League players also remain available, including Solly March, Adam Webster and Joel Veltman of Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace defender Nathaniel Clyne, Everton captain Seamus Coleman, Newcastle United's Emil Krafth, Nottingham Forest defender Willy Boly and Sunderland winger Bertrand Traore. As clubs continue strengthening their squads before the new season, many of these players could soon secure new opportunities.
