Tom Edozie: Southampton loanee's sibling scores against Man Utd U21s

Posted : 15 April 2025

Wolverhampton Wanderers secured their place in the Premier League 2 playoffs after a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Aggborough Stadium on Monday evening. This result ensured that they would be part of the playoff competition as the regular season came to a close.

Tom Edozie and Wesley Okoduwa, the son of retired Nigerian international Emmanuel Okoduwa, were in the starting lineup for Wolves, while Denmark U21 international Chido Obi played the entire match for Manchester United. Obi’s performance, along with contributions from his teammates, helped ensure a competitive match.

In the second half, United made tactical changes, with Victor Musa and Noah Ajayi coming on as substitutes. Their fresh legs added some energy to the game, though it was a closely contested battle that ended in a draw.

Tom Edozie, younger brother of Southampton loanee Sam Edozie, is yet to earn an international cap but has been attracting attention from Nigeria manager Eric Chelle. Sam Edozie, who has represented England at youth levels, played in the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup, where he featured in matches against Tunisia and Iraq.

The game saw Tom Edozie open the scoring for Wolves in the 44th minute with a clinical finish that found the bottom corner of the net. However, Manchester United leveled the score early in the second half with Tyler Fletcher’s goal in the 52nd minute, securing a point for both teams.

Tom Edozie’s performance throughout the season has been impressive, as he finished the regular campaign with five goals in 17 appearances for Wolves in Premier League 2. His consistent form has made him a standout player for the club.

Having joined Wolves in 2022 on a scholarship deal, Tom signed his first professional contract in August 2024. A product of XYZ Academy, he is known for his exceptional skills as a midfielder, particularly his ability to control the ball in tight spaces and break down defensive lines with his dribbling and creativity.
