Osun Babes FC secured their first three points of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership campaign courtesy of a late penalty by Nofisat Tijani against Ahudiyannem Queens in Ile-Ogbo.
After falling short in their season opener against Dannaz Ladies in Lagos, Osun Babes were determined to claim victory against Ahudiyannem Queens.
The first half was cagey, with both teams cautious in their pursuit of a goal.
Ngozi Okoro created the first chance for Osun Babes in the 8th minute but could not guide her shot on target. Ahudiyannem Queens had a close call in the 24th minute, but Osun Babes goalkeeper Elizabeth Boniface was on hand to make a crucial save.
The Osun Babes defense, led by captain Abisola Abiona, performed exceptionally well to limit the attacking opportunities of Ahudiyannem Queens, and the first half ended goalless.
The second half saw more intent from Osun Babes, with Tabitha Terlumun causing problems for her markers. Meanwhile, Nofisat Tijani and Marvis Avwenayeri were alert to deny Ahudiyannem Queens any clear goal-scoring opportunities.
In the 85th minute, an Ahudiyannem Queens player handled the ball in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty.
Nofisat Tijani confidently stepped up and slotted the ball past the helpless goalkeeper, giving Osun Babes the lead.
Following the goal, Osun Babes controlled the tempo of the game to secure a 1–0 victory, giving Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side their first win of the season.
