Real Madrid have confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has sustained an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his leg.
Courtois, who was in the squad for Real Madrid’s goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, will sit out Belgium’s upcoming fixtures as a precaution.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that the club’s medical staff will assess Courtois “during the break,” adding that he will “miss the upcoming games with Belgium.”
The 33-year-old’s setback is another blow for both Real Madrid and Belgium, as he continues his recovery from the long-term injury that sidelined him for most of last season. The club is expected to issue a further update after additional medical tests.
