Tension at Enyimba Camp as Training Allegedly Disrupted in Aba

Enyimba FC’s preparations for their next Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture were disrupted on Monday following an incident at the club’s training facility in Aba.

The development reportedly involved Sporting Director Daniel Eke, who witnesses said arrived at the facility accompanied by officers reportedly from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

According to accounts from people present at the training ground, the development led to the suspension of the team’s training session.

Some club officials were also reportedly asked to leave the facility during the incident, although the circumstances surrounding their removal could not immediately be established.

The incident came a day after Enyimba suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Inter Lagos, a result that added pressure on the team following its difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.

Unconfirmed reports also alleged that Eke had expressed satisfaction with the outcome of Sunday’s match, although this could not be independently verified.

The situation reportedly prompted the intervention of Enyimba Chairman, Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo, who was said to have moved to calm tensions at the facility.

Players, members of the coaching staff and other personnel were subsequently reported to have proceeded to the police station in connection with the incident.

However, details surrounding the reported involvement of security personnel and the reason for the police visit remained unclear at the time of filing this report.

Enyimba had yet to issue an official statement on the development.

The Aba-based club must now seek to put the incident behind it as preparations continue for their midweek encounter against Sporting Lagos.

Further clarification from the club is expected to provide details on what transpired at the training facility and any measures taken in response.
