Teams Talk Tough Ahead of 1X Cup Final

Posted : 14 October 2025

Inspire Sports Academy Greater Tomorrow Feeders Team (ISAGT) has vowed to defeat Ikorodu City in the 2025 1X Cup Final.

Tension and excitement are building as the finalists of the 2025 1X Cup Final gear up for the highly anticipated clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Thursday, October 16.

One of the finalists, Inspire Sports Academy Greater Tomorrow Feeders Team (ISAGT), has vowed to humble Ikorodu City FC in what promises to be a thrilling showdown for the championship title.

ISAGT booked their place in the final of the competition — now in its third season — after an emphatic 2-0 victory over Dosu Joseph FC in a pulsating semifinal encounter.

Speaking ahead of the final, ISAGT’s Public Relations Officer, Oluwatope Ayokunle, expressed confidence that his side will secure victory within regulation time.

“We will definitely defeat Ikorodu City in a straight win without going into a penalty shootout,” Ayokunle, popularly known as Tubaba, declared.
“Ikorodu City is a good side — don’t get me wrong — we respect them. But we’ve met several times before, and this is another opportunity to prove our superiority.”

Ayokunle added that ISAGT’s youthful squad gives them a key advantage heading into the final.

“It’s going to be a tough match, no doubt, but the fact that we have younger players who are quicker and can react faster in 50-50 duels gives us a slight edge. Our senior team was knocked out in the quarterfinals, but this young side will make us proud on Thursday,” he said.

The grand finale promises to be an exciting contest, while Nath Boys, who lost to Ikorodu City in the other semifinal, will face Dosu Joseph FC in the third-place playoff.

The overall winner of the 2025 1X Cup will receive ₦10 million, while ₦5 million goes to the runners-up and ₦3 million to the third-place finisher.
