Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has warned that the club is running out of time to secure a place in next season’s Champions League following another late setback in the Premier League.
The Hungary captain spoke after Liverpool drew 1‑1 at Anfield with struggling Tottenham on Sunday, as Richarlison scored a 90th-minute equaliser to deny the reigning champions a victory.
Szoboszlai admitted he understood why some fans left the stadium early, but he urged supporters to remain until the final whistle, highlighting the impact of their presence on the players.
The midfielder’s first-half free-kick had given Liverpool the lead, but conceding in the closing moments marked the eighth time the team had dropped points late this season, costing them valuable ground in the fight for a top-four finish.
“It's a little bit boring when I say this but we still need to find a solution because we are running out of time,” Szoboszlai said.
He added that fans’ early departures negatively affect the team and stressed that sticking together in difficult moments is essential.
“It should be normal that in hard times we stick together more because that's what we need, we need each other… Stick with us,” he urged, appealing for continued support as Liverpool attempt to salvage their Champions League ambitions.
