Super Falcons Midfielder Peace Efih Completes Move to Panathinaikos

Nigeria international midfielder Peace Efih has completed a transfer to Greek Women's A Division club Panathinaikos, with the club confirming her arrival ahead of the new season. The financial terms and length of her contract were not disclosed by the Athens-based side. 

The 25-year-old joins Panathinaikos after spending two productive seasons with fellow Greek club OFI Crete. During her time there, Efih established herself as one of the league's standout midfielders, scoring 14 goals in 40 appearances and attracting interest with her consistent performances.

Efih brings valuable experience from several clubs across Europe and Africa. Before moving to Greece, she played for Edo Queens, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria. She also enjoyed spells with Spain's Sporting de Huelva and Zaragoza CFF, Israel's Kiryat Gat and Portuguese side Sporting de Braga.

The midfielder has also represented Nigeria at different international levels. She featured for the Flamingos at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup before progressing to the Falconets squad for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Her performances eventually earned her promotion to the senior Super Falcons.

Speaking after completing the move, Efih expressed her excitement about joining one of Greece's biggest clubs and outlined her ambitions for the season.

"I am very excited to have signed with Panathinaikos. I look forward to scoring many goals and helping the team achieve its main goal, which is winning the championship. I can't wait to get started," she said.

Panathinaikos will expect Efih's creativity, energy and eye for goal to strengthen their midfield as they compete for domestic honours. Her experience across several leagues is also expected to add leadership to the squad.

Efih becomes another Nigerian player linked with Panathinaikos. Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has been with the club since joining from Rangers in 2025, giving the Greek giants continued Nigerian representation across their men's and women's teams. 

The move marks another important step in Efih's career as she looks to establish herself at one of Greece's most successful clubs while remaining in contention for future Super Falcons selections.
