Nigeria’s Super Falcons will look to complete the job against Comoros on Tuesday and advance to the third round of the African qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The 10-time African champions hold a 2-0 advantage from Friday’s first leg, with defender Michelle Alozie and forward Uchenna Kanu finding the net at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo.
Victory in the return fixture would move Nigeria closer to a second consecutive Olympic appearance, following their return to the women’s football tournament at Paris 2024 after a 16-year absence.
Both matches are being played in Nigeria because Comoros lack a CAF-approved venue for international fixtures, giving the Falcons home advantage throughout the tie.
With qualification within reach, interim Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his assistants could use Tuesday’s encounter to assess other players while maintaining the team’s competitive edge.
In Friday’s match, Chiamaka Nnadozie started in goal behind wing-backs Glory Ogbonna and Alozie, while Christy Ucheibe and Shukurat Oladipo operated in central defence.
Debutant Joy Igbokwe featured alongside Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini in midfield, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Gift Monday, and Kanu leading the attack.
The technical crew have several alternatives available should they decide to make changes to the starting lineup.
Young goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma could be considered for a starting role, while Farida Abdulwahab and Tumininu Adeshina provide additional defensive options.
Suliat Abideen, who impressed after coming on in the second half of Friday’s encounter, could also earn a place in the starting team.
In attack, former Nigeria U-17 captain Shakirat Moshood and Folashade Ijamilusi are among the available options.
Belarus-based duo Blessing Nkor and Blessing Okpe, alongside Sweden-based Joy Omewa, could also feature as the Falcons seek to maintain their attacking threat.
Beyond Tuesday’s fixture, Nigeria will have their sights set on a potentially tougher challenge against Morocco in the third round, scheduled for March 2027.
The North Africans are expected to provide a stern test as the Falcons pursue qualification for the Los Angeles Games and seek to consolidate their return to the Olympic stage.
