Nigeria international Michelle Alozie has completed a move to Chicago Stars FC after joining the club from Houston Dash in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money.
The Stars confirmed that Alozie has signed a three-year contract that will keep her in Chicago through the end of the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season, marking a fresh chapter in the Super Falcons defender’s club career.
Alozie arrives in Chicago with a growing pedigree in the league, having spent the last four seasons with Houston Dash. She initially joined the Dash in 2021 as a national team replacement player before earning a full roster spot and gradually establishing herself as an important figure within the squad.
After limited minutes in her rookie campaign, the California-born defender enjoyed a breakthrough in 2022, scoring twice in 10 regular-season appearances and helping Houston reach the NWSL playoffs for the first time in the club’s history.
Her upward trajectory continued in 2023 when she emerged as one of the Dash’s joint top scorers with four goals during a standout season.
In total, Alozie leaves Houston with seven goals and two assists from 75 regular-season appearances, including 33 starts, underlining her ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
Chicago Stars general manager Richard Feuz believes the Nigerian international will be a key piece in the club’s long-term plans.
“Michelle’s proven ability at both ends of the pitch, along with her experience and leadership skills, will be valuable assets for our team over the next few years,” Feuz said. “We are excited to welcome her to Chicago as we continue to build for 2026.”
For Nigerian fans, Alozie’s move adds another layer to her steadily rising international profile. She made her Super Falcons debut in June 2021, scoring on her first appearance, and has since earned 26 caps and netted two goals for the national team. She was part of Nigeria’s squads at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games, cementing her place as a reliable option in defence.
She was also part of the Falcons team that won the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the 10th time in Morocco earlier this year.
Reacting to the move, Alozie expressed excitement about her next challenge.
“I’m excited to be starting a new chapter with the Stars,” she said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the team, connecting with them on and off the field, and seeing the fans in the city and in the stands.”
Alozie is expected to officially link up with Chicago Stars in 2026, when the club moves into its new home at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois.
