Super Eagles Star Moses Simon Ruled Out of Paris FC Clash Following Hamstring Injury

Posted : 20 April 2026

Paris FC manager Antoine Kombouaré has confirmed that Moses Simon will miss the club’s Ligue 1 encounter against Metz. The Super Eagles assistant captain was omitted from the 21-man squad traveling to Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday afternoon. Reports indicate the winger suffered discomfort in his right hamstring during a training session last week.

The 30-year-old winger has been a mainstay in the team since Kombouaré took over the reins in February. This weekend’s fixture marks the first time Simon has been absent from the starting lineup under the current manager. He had previously made six consecutive appearances for the capital club, providing one assist during that period.

The timing of the injury is a significant blow for Paris FC as they look to finalize their Ligue 1 survival. A victory against Metz would mathematically guarantee their safety in the top flight for another season. They currently hold an 11-point lead over the relegation zone with only a few matches remaining.

Nigeria's national team coach, Eric Chelle, will be monitoring the situation with great concern. The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Poland and Portugal in high-profile international friendlies this June. These matches serve as vital preparation for the national team’s upcoming competitive schedule.

Simon is not the only injury concern for the Nigerian technical crew at the moment. Key midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi are also dealing with fitness issues at their respective clubs. Coach Chelle will hope his veteran leaders can recover quickly to participate in the summer camp.

The medical staff at Paris FC have not yet provided a specific timeline for Simon's return to action. However, hamstring issues typically require careful management to avoid long-term complications. Luka Koleosho or Ilan Kebbal are expected to fill the void in the starting eleven for the match against Metz.
