Adeleye Adebayo makes a surprise return to the Super Eagles squad as Eric Chelle finalizes a 23-man roster for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The squad features captain William Ekong, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Raphael Onyedika, and forwards Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen among the notable invitees. Injured goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali also made the final cut.
Defenders Calvin Bassey, Olaoluwa Aina, and Bright Osayi-Samuel, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Frank Onyeka, and forwards Simon Moses, Samuel Chukwueze, and Cyriel Dessers are all included in the squad.
Adeleye, who plays in Greece, joins fellow standout performers from the Unity Cup—Felix Agu and Benjamin Fredericks—as well as forwards Christantus Uche and Tolu Arokodare, who impressed in a friendly against Russia in Moscow on June 6.
The Super Eagles will face Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, September 6, before traveling to Bloemfontein to play South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, September 9.
